Tree Removal Cost Guide for Washington Homeowners
Tree removal pricing confuses a lot of homeowners — and it should, because the variables are huge. Here's what actually drives the cost of a removal job in Western Washington.
Size is the biggest factor. A 30-foot ornamental in an open yard might run $400–$700. A 100-foot Douglas fir between a house and a fence can easily run $2,500–$4,500.
Access matters almost as much. If we can pull a bucket truck up to the tree, the job is faster and cheaper. If we have to climb and rope every piece down through a tight backyard, expect to pay more.
Proximity to structures and power lines adds rigging time. Trees over a roof require careful lowering of every limb — there's no felling involved, just slow controlled work.
Stump grinding is usually a separate line item, typically $90–$350 per stump depending on diameter.
Cleanup level matters too. Chipping brush on-site is standard; hauling away wood costs extra unless you want the rounds for firewood.
Permits in Seattle, Bellevue, and a growing list of WA cities can add fees and time. We help you figure out what's required.
Watch out for unusually low quotes — they often come from uninsured operators. A workers' comp claim or property damage from an unlicensed crew can cost you tens of thousands.
We provide written, itemized estimates so you see exactly what you're paying for. Free, no pressure.
